DIPLOMA OF MUSICAL THEATRE BRISBANE

The CUA50220 – Diploma of Musical Theatre is an intensive 1 year course where students gain the knowledge and skills necessary to start and sustain a career in the Performing Arts Industry.

Entirely industry based and delivered by confirmed professionals, the Musical Theatre Program includes the most relevant core units and elective units required for the obtention of the Diploma (Acting, Vocal Training, Theatre Jazz, Tap, Ensemble, Musical Theatre…); but the course also include more than 10 additional skill development and theoretical classes such as Ballet, Improvisation, Career management, Audition Prep, & Fitness

QUALIFICATION

The CUA50220 – DIPLOMA OF MUSICAL THEATRE is nationally recognised and FULLY ACCREDITED, thanks to our partnership with ATOD, the Australian Teachers of Dancing (RTO#31624).

 

REQUIREMENTS

– NO AUDITION REQUIRED
– Applicants must 16 or over by the time the course starts
– 1 to 2 years of experience at an amateur or community level in at least 2 of the 4 core disciplines (acting, singing, dancing or musical theatre) are recommended
– Applicants might be asked to undertake and successfully complete all of the units of competency within an individual qualification, students will need to possess reading, writing, and numeracy skills at he applicable unit level. As part of the enrolment process students will be provided with an electronic link by ATOD that will enable them to undertake an ‘online’ evaluation to determine their current level of skills in the three areas. Please note some units of competency do not require all three skills concurrently

Online Evaluation

To undertake and successfully complete all of the units of competency within an individual qualification, students will need to possess reading, writing, and numeracy skills at the applicable unit level. As part of the enrolment process students will be provided with an electronic link by ATOD that will enable them to undertake an ‘online’ evaluation to determine their current level of skills in the three areas. Please note some units of competency do not require all three skills concurrently. The results of the evaluation will determine if a student requires any learning support whilst undertaking each unit of competency.

  • Act, sing and dance at a professional level
  • Perform in all 3 disciplines according to current industry standards and requirements
  • Build and perform complex and challenging pieces, songs, and characters
  • Follow directions and show work ethic and professionalism
  • Handle lead roles as well as ensembles and chorus lines

Career Opportunities

By completing this course:
Students have the opportunity to apply as actors, vocalists, dancers and Musical Theatre performers to professional paid positions in Musical Theatre, Theatre, Film/TV, Cruises, Festivals, Councils/Government Events, and/or tertiary and private teaching institutions.
