Hairspray Jr. – Holiday Camp

8 April – 13 April 2024

“Good morning, Brisbane!”
After the huge success of our previous Holiday camps, Highschool Musical Jr (June 2023) and Legally Blonde Jr (September 2023), where more than 30 young performers joined us a a full week of rehearsing, performing and more importantly making friends and memories, we are proud to announce that our next holiday camp (April 2024) will be: HAIRSPRAY Jr !!!

It’s 1962, and spunky teen, Tracy Turnblad, has one big dream – to dance on the popular “Corny Collins Show.” When she finally gets her shot, she’s transformed from social outcast to sudden star. In balancing her newfound power with her desire for justice, Tracy fights to dethrone the reigning Miss Teen Hairspray, Amber von Tussle, and integrate a TV network in the process. With the help of her mum, Edna, and guest DJ, Motormouth Maybelle, the rhythm of Tracy’s new beat just might prove unstoppable.

HOLIDAY CAMP PROGRAM

Join us for a week long of exciting rehearsals with a staged performance at the end of the week for all friends and family to come watch.

“6 days for a musical!”
In just six days, your little stars will work alongside our team of experienced teachers and directors to create and put on an entire musical.

With the guidance of our talented trainers and creatives, all professionals from the industry, participants will spend the week learning the songs, rehearsing dance routines, and memorizing their lines in a safe and fun environment. This Holiday Camp is an excellent opportunity for young talents to learn acting, singing, and dancing while sharing their passion with other like-minded peers.

THE PERFORMANCE

At the end of the week, on Saturday 13th of April, participants will give 2 (or 4 – to be confirmed) performances of “Hairspray Jr.” in front of a live audience at the Stagehouse Theatre (Stafford), giving them a glimpse of what goes on backstage during a production. The times of the performances are 1.00pm and 3.00pm.

The workshop fee includes one complimentary ticket. Additional tickets will be available online at $35.00 each.

REQUIREMENTS:

This workshop is open to all participants of all levels between 9 and 17 year old.
No previous experience is required to join the camp and participate to the musical as ensemble.
Lead roles and supporting roles will be upon audition.

Please note: Because we only have very little time to put this show together, it is quite important that all participants are able to commit to every day of the week. We will require all lead roles and supporting roles to be able to attend every day of the camp.
